What you are about to read is an opinion about a record/album from a Shitty Hardcore Kid living in SF. I will be reviewing music that I feel pretty strongly about. Records that make me want to have an opinion and that hopefully will make you have one as well. With that said, my opinion is just an opinion. You can think I am an idiot for writing it. But I won't/don't care.
The scale is very simple. 1 - 5. A five means that your record collection needs this album. A 1 means that the music isn't worth the 2cent plastic it is written and probably will get a one line write up. If that.
So to start...
The Chariot - Wars and Rumors of Wars

Holy Shit. A hardcore record that is honest and genuine? A hardcore record that actually has something to say as well as the agressiveness to back it up? I am shocked. Really I am. Don't get me wrong , I like the tough guy hardcore as much as the next guy, but wow. This album blew my mind.
Clocking in at just under 30 min, it is like getting hit by a train and loving every second of it. Josh Scogin has once again proven that he is one of the BEST voices in hardcore today. This album is what this genre should be about. It is agressive and abrasive (feedback EVERYWHERE!) but with purpose. It's obvious he isnt screaming just to scream. He's pissed.
This record does what every hardcore album should do. It puts the band in your face and makes you listen to every yelled word. He is pouring his emotions out like he was exorcising his demons. It's unreal to hear and can even make you uncomfortable. But that is the point. You need to feel this emotional connection with it , becuase it is the only way you can understand or relate to him. It is seriously intense. But worth the ride.
